Date of Passing: Jul 14, 2005
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryALBERT KUNG-LAM ENG Suddenly on July 14, 2005, Albert Kung-Lam Eng passed away. Albert is survived by his beloved wife, Lily Shuet-Ping; and his children, Ricky (Vivien) and grandchildren, Erick, Garrick, and Dieter of Edmonton, AB; Eileen (Richard) and grandchildren, Grace and Lily, of Winnipeg; Wallie (Stephanie) of Winnipeg; and Stanley (Linda) and grandchildren, Evan and Daniel, of Winnipeg. He is also survived by his brother, Garry Kung-Ming Eng (Florence) and niece and nephews, and also his brother-in-law, Norman Chao (Helen) and niece and nephews. Albert emigrated from Toi-Sun, China in 1952, and completed his high school education in Winnipeg. He married in 1957 to Lily, and raised four children. During his life, he was quite an avid entrepreneur. He first operated Golden Gate Restaurant with his wife and father-in-law. In 1967, he went to obtain his barber license and opened up Albert's Barber Shop. Later, in 1974, he opened up China Economy Food Restaurant and operated it until 1998. In 1982, he opened up Albert's Laundromat and also moved his barber shop into the same location. He believed in hard work and discipline - working seven days a week to support his family and was a firm believer that education was important. He instilled this hard work ethic into his four children - successfully putting his children through university - producing an educator, a dentist, a physiotherapist and a physician - his life dream. Last year, he returned back to visit Toi-Sun for the first time in 46 years. He was semi-retired when he passed away. He still operated Albert's Barber Shop, and in his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, watching Chinese television, and visiting and caring for his grandchildren. Viewing to take place Sunday, July 17, 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. and Monday, July 18, 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Service on Tuesday, July 19 at 9:00 a.m. at Bardal Funeral Home, 843 Sherbrook St., 774-7474. In lieu of flowers, donations in Albert's memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
